Published monthly rates, quoted project fees
Monthly plans have a rate you can read off this page. Once-off builds are quoted in writing after a scoping conversation, because a five-page site and a multi-user application are not the same job and a single headline number for both would be dishonest. Everything is in South African Rand (ZAR).
Monthly subscriptions
Charged in advance, month to month, no minimum term. 14-day free trial on a new subscription, and 30days’ notice to cancel.
Website care
A website I host, keep patched and keep updated for you. You send changes, I make them.
- Hosting, SSL and domain configuration
- Framework and dependency updates
- Content and copy changes on request
- Uptime monitoring and backups
- Email support within one business day
Application subscription
An application built and run as a service. You pay monthly, I build, host and keep it running.
- Hosted application and database
- Ongoing feature work each month
- Bug fixes and security patches
- Backups and monitoring
- Direct line to the person who built it
Once-off builds
Fixed price against a written scope. You own the result, source code included, once the final invoice is paid.
Website build
A marketing site built, deployed and handed over. You own it outright when it's paid.
- Design and build from your content
- Mobile-first, fast, accessible
- SEO basics, metadata and sitemap
- Deployment to your hosting
- Source code and handover
Application build
A scoped application, built to a fixed quote, delivered and handed over with the source.
- Scoping and a fixed written quote
- Build in visible increments
- Deployment to your infrastructure
- Source code, schema and documentation
- Optional support retainer afterwards
What moves a project quote
Four things account for most of the difference between a cheap build and an expensive one.
How much of it already exists
A brief, a design, a spreadsheet full of real data - all of it shortens the job. Starting from a blank page is the most expensive starting point.
How many kinds of user
One admin is simple. Customers, staff, managers and a supplier all seeing different things is where the real work lives.
What it has to talk to
A payment gateway, WhatsApp, an accounting package, an existing database. Each integration is its own piece of work with its own failure cases.
How precise it has to be about money
Anything that touches payments, stock or invoicing needs testing that a brochure site does not. That care is most of the difference in price.
Currency, VAT and how billing works
- Currency
- Every price on this site, every quote and every invoice is in South African Rand (ZAR). I do not quote or charge in any other currency.
- VAT
- TODOconfirm whether the business is VAT registered. If it is, state the VAT number and whether prices include or exclude VAT. If not, state that prices are VAT exclusive and no VAT is charged.
- How you pay
- By electronic funds transfer to the business bank account, or by card and instant EFT through Payfast. Card details are entered on Payfast's own secure pages and never touch this website.
- Recurring billing
- Monthly plans are charged in advance on the same date each month. The amount, the date and the billing cycle are confirmed in writing before the first charge, and you get at least 30 days' notice of any price increase.
- Once-off builds
- 50% of the quoted fee on acceptance, the balance on delivery. Larger projects can be split into milestone invoices instead - that is agreed in the quote.
- If an invoice goes unpaid
- Hosted services may be suspended once an invoice is more than 14 days overdue. I will contact you before that happens, and nothing is deleted on suspension.
Cancellations, refunds and the cooling-off window are set out in the refund and cancellation policy.
